The first lesson

"To have knowledge of one's own ignorance is the first lesson learned by those who walk according to the Word. A person who was ignorant seeks; and when they seek, they find the Teacher; and when they find, they believe; and when they believe, they hope; and when they, they love; and when they love, they are made like the Beloved, endeavoring to be the object that has been loved." (Clement of Alexandria, about 200 A.D.)
