more than the money in the bank

Chad had some good thoughts for us last night in his sermon from Mark 5:1-20. This account has always been one of my favorites in Mark's Gospel. Can you imagine what the townspeople thought when they realized most of the area's local investments had just ran off a cliff?! (5:13-14) Mark's account alone mentions the number of pigs: 2,000. Jesus told us elsewhere "You are worth many sparrows" (Luke 12:7), but here in this text he showed us that just one person, the town's most 'dangerous nut case', is worth more than a chunk of the whole town's money! No wonder the people begged Jesus to leave (5:17); they valued money more than people.

Aren't you glad that isn't a problem for anyone today? Ouch!
